---shapeshifters
An ancient race created from dark magic. Many thousands of years ago they appeared, and nobody, not even themselves, knows what spurred their creation; all they know is for as long as they have existed the race has been torn into two distinct sects whom hate each other and trapped themselves in an endless war.
Metakino are further divided by their clans. There are thirteen tribes in each sect, each ruled by a different animal. A shapeshifter is born with one animal connection and may only shift into that animal. Rarely a hybrid may be conceived- for example, a liger- however these are looked down on as abominations of nature.
-the faunos: Those with an animal heart and instinct. These shapeshifters are born into an animal form and become human. They tend to be more passionate and less logical in their pursuits and more extreme in their emotions.
-the anthos: Those with a human heart and instinct. The anthos are born human and may shift into animal form. They tend to be more arrogant, but more thoughtful and subtle in their lives, and more crafty.

Mating is a complex affair for this race. They can sleep with whomever they want, until they sleep with the one the Fates have decreed to be their mate. At this point a symbol appears on both's palm, unique each time, that represents their bond. After that they are unable to sleep with anyone else. Oh yeah, and it's impossible for them to conceive with anyone but their mate.
witches
---elemental
A witch is a human, male or female, whom willingly gave up their lives to save someone else’s. As a reward for their sacrifice, the gods bestow upon them the gift of immortality and magic. Unlike the menos, they still own their souls and may do as they please. A witches’ magic is elemental and can be interpreted in different ways. The way a witch chooses to wield their magic is how they are labeled.
pyslamia - these witches channel their magic through the souls of the dead. They are not black magic users, but channelers, and may see and communicate with spirits.
gilamia - witches who use natural magic to heal physical and sometimes emotional damage. They often use herbs, oils, and crystals as tools. Depending on their strength they can heal almost anything, however they can not bring back the dead.
ktilamia - this order of witches use the magic animals naturally give off. They are likely to have many animal companions and some even have a ‘daemon’ of sorts, or a very special animal they can communicate with.
tychilamia - perhaps the most “traditional” of the witches, they take to the art of divination and find most of their power in the dreams of others, using that energy to power their divination. However, they can be troublesome as they have the ability to mess with others’ dreams.
kynilamia - kyn are fighters at heart and take to the streets to hunt demons. They use their own body’s resources for magic energy and take power from the demons they kill. They are not guardians as the menos are, but rather, have their own agenda.
nekrolamia - the darkest order of witches. A nekro rejects the witches’ teachings to use black magic. They have the ability to reanimate the dead for short periods of time- however; these living corpses are more like brain-dead zombies willing to do whatever their master bids them. They are unafraid to murder innocent people to get their power. Generally, hated by most other witches.
prodomenos
---the menos
The soulless guardians of humankind, the Menos belong to the goddess Artemis and are usually male in gender. In their lives, they were kicked around and betrayed—and when a final act of betrayal lead to death, their souls screams in such anguish the halls of Olympus echo with it. The goddess Artemis then appears before them and offers them a deal: if they sign over their soul and agree to fight the demons who hunt humans, then they can have one act of revenge against all who wronged them. If they refuse, they go on to the afterlife.
Guess which deal they usually take?
Upon becoming a Menos, Artemis gives each a special mark of her emblem. This is placed different for every person.
Although considered immortal, there are certain ways for them to die. Their wounds heal unusually fast; a wound caused by a God-forged weapon will never heal and cause death. As well, if they are stabbed through their mark, they will die. Decapitation will also do the trick.
It does well for them to avoid sunlight, for they are particularly sensitive to light. Their eyes are black and have perfect night vision, to enable surer hunting of the demons. They hide their marks and walk alone, keeping their loyalties only to themselves.
demons
---soulsuckers
Centuries ago, a young, mischievous child of Apollo stole his bow and arrows and took off. Ignorantly the boy used the sacred arrows to kill a swan, wanting to give it’s beautiful feathers to a girl he was courting. The furious Apollo condemned the boy and his people upon finding out to die before age thirty unless they stole another human’s soul. They quickly took to doing that, and any living without stealing souls quickly died out. The demons, however, could reproduce- their offspring was born requiring soul for substance- and pretty much own the race now.
Demons cannot stand sunlight, for it has a tendency to burn them. They steal human souls by killing them. The souls stay trapped in their body until they die, and thus the cycle continues. Demons are not easy to kill- decapitation’s about the only thing that does it, or, similar to a vampire, something gold through the heart.
They do have the ability to get pregnant, and during the pregnancy the woman is especially vulnerable and needs twice the amount of souls. Once the baby is born it must feed—they are usually given the souls of animals or plants instead of humans, as the screaming would hurt the baby.
demons of pandora's box
---temporary side plot
Thirteen demons:
pain | violence | vengeance | betrayal | defeat | distrust | promiscuity | lies | death | misery | wrath | doubt | hope
These demons have been around for ages and have gone through many host bodies, but had been dormant and not occupying anyone for a while. NOW however they have picked new hosts and are settling in to their favorite role: Namely, reminding everyone that they exist and causing chaos and ruin.
This is not a catastrophic event that everyone will be affected by, but with their existence, they will project a lot of negativity and ruin, adding to the general attitude of chaos. Their sole job is to exist and run around causing conflicts and problems, that's what they live for.
Oh and, the demon family is estranged. They generally hate each other; find each other worthless about their general attributes. They can hang out together/team up for funsies but it's rare. Of course, say, Wrath and Violence get along pretty well versus Doubt and Hope.
These demons will die, often. When the human host dies, the demon leaves the body and finds a new one. However, be fair! If you're playing Death and the host body dies, let someone else have a chance. These guys'll be around for a while, so everyone can have a taste of 'em. This also means if you want to you can request one that's being played, we'll keep you on a private waiting list. But! Dont pressure the current rper to kill them off, let them have their share of fun.
Demons do not control those around them except by spreading the message. But they are fully what they represent. Lies may only speak in lies, ONLY. Misery can only express misery. Doubt will never fully believe in anything. Not even his own existence. See the message? And a note about Hope: Hope is tricky. You may say, BUT HOPE IS GOOD!!! But imagine hoping for EVERYTHING. Wake up and Hope for everything good to happen today. When someone passes you in the street, Hope they'll sweep you off your feet and bring you good things. When terminally ill, you can never accept the truth, only hope for recovery. It is a terrible curse.
